Five hundred of New York's rich and famous forked out $1,500 a ticket to participate in a gala dinner dance at the Plaza, together with the musicians of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.
NEW YORK - The 2,800 seats in Carnegie Hall were all occupied the evening of December 15 at a concert of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra. The soloist Itzhak Perlman and the orchestra, under the baton of Zubin Mehta, played pieces by Stravinsky, Bruch and Mussorgsky. Tickets to the concert cost $50, but about 500 guests paid $ 1,500 each to participate in the black-tie dinner dance afterward at The Plaza, together with the orchestra's musicians."
